Dear Alpha Sisters,
I hope you are all keeping calm as we approach the New Year. Did you have a chance to read Judy Merz's article in the Collegial Exchange? She is amazing!
I'm sure that you are not surprised that the vote was unanimous to invite Jameelah Wright into membership. I have notified her and she says she is planning to attend the February chapter meeting and the state convention for induction. I think we have a winner here!
The next state meeting is at Steinhart School in Hamilton on January 4, 2020. The information about the meeting is on the state website at https://www.dkgnj.org/january-4-2020-state-meeting.html .
To make sure that Alpha is properly represented, we will need committee chairs or substitutes to attend. These are the committees that will be meeting and who should attend or find a substitute:
Chapter Presidents - Jan - need a substitute
Programs: Megan Connolly
Membership: Claire Swanson
Convention: Cathy Cleenput & Ann Calvin - Jan will be at that meeting
Scholarships and Stipends: Laura Perrius
Historians: Theresa went in September, maybe go again?
Rules and Bylaws: Emily Hoeflinger & Evelyn Oberndorf
Induction: need someone to attend
Please let me know who will be able to attend. If your name is not on the list, volunteering to substitute would be much appreciated.
Also at the state meeting a sign up sheet will be available for the Jersey Girls Dinner on July 8, 2020 during the International Convention in Philadelphia. It will be at 7 PM at Maggiano's Little Italy, directly across the street from the Philadelphia Marriott. The cost will be $50 per person for DKGNJ members, $58 for non-members. Sign ups will continue at the state convention.
Here is the latest from CTAUN:
Mon, Dec 16,

I am forwarding you the latest information on the CTAUN conference in New York City on February 28, 2020. Registration for the conference will end February 17, 2020. Please encourage your members to attend this worthwhile conference and to share with other chapter members this valuable information as well as teaching aides found on the CTAUN website.
I would like to thank the many chapters that have raised fund,s and encourage all chapters to support DKG's first official international project, Schools For Africa. Since its beginning in 2010, DKG International has donated over $300,00.00 to Schools for Africa (UNICEF). To educate your members about the Schools for Africa project, there are presentations available on the DKG website. Simply access the DKG homepage. Then select Programs/Projects. Schools for Africa is the first program listed. This page also contains information regarding the donation process. Chapter treasurers should be able to help in this process.
I wish you you and your chapter members success as we continue our relationship with CTUAN and the Schools for Africa project.
Wishing you the best in the coming year,
"WAR NO MORE" Friday, 28 February 2020
