Dear Alpha Sisters, I hope you were all able to salvage and enjoy some part of Thanksgiving this year. I managed to scale down all of our traditional favorites so my mother and I could at least enjoy all of the flavors of the holiday. FaceTime calls with family members eased the quiet of the day. And, of course, we were still able to engage in other traditions of the day, including watching the Macy’s parade and the National Dog Show. And of course, no matter where or with whom you were, it was a day to give thanks. I have much for which I am thankful. My family and I are healthy, I have the support of so many friends and a job that I love (even during these crazy times). I’ll be teaching virtually for at least these two weeks following Thanksgiving, so I’m thankful that I had at least the first marking period “in-person” to get to know my students personalities and hear what their voices sound like as we built our class community. And isn’t that what life is truly all about - connecting with people? I’m looking forward to being able to connect with you all this Saturday morning. The program marks the first in our Strong Woman series. I’m excited to introduce you to a friend of mine, Mary Harrop, who spends the warmer months fishing in Alaska and the rest of the time (when not visiting family in NJ) in Germany. I hope to “see” you all then!
Best, Megan
